Fresh Air Fridays starts this week!
Hi Cooper Landing!
Your friends at KMTA are excited to kick off the February session of Fresh Air Fridays in Moose Pass this Friday, February 2nd. We spent January in Whittier kicksledding, skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, and just having a generally great time outside.
So far we’ve only got a handful of kids signed up for the February session and need a few more to run the program. The program is open to Moose Pass and Cooper Landing kids grades K-5 (or ages 6ish through 11ish). It includes a full day adventure in the KMTA on February 16th as well as afterschool programs on the 2nd, 9th, and 23rd.

Moose Pass School students compete in Alaska Robot Rendezvous
Moose Pass School students have spent the last three weeks working on Lego robotics projects. The students followed this year‘s art-inspired FIRST Lego League theme Masterpiece. They discovered what they are passionate about and how to share it with others. They created moving Lego models to represent their ideas. As part of this process, they used teamwork and communication to solve complex problems. Grants from Seward Community Foundation have helped us purchase the most up to date Lego building materials for the students.
Nine students traveled to Anchorage Saturday January 27th, to present their robots and projects at the Robot Rendezvous at South High. The students in K-4 (The Cyborg Moose) had their mascot to represent them. They created a Lego model with a moving stage, Alyeska ski resort and Buff Baby (who moved on skis) and her dog. They received the challenge solution award for showing excellent problem-solving skills to create an innovative and helpful solution to the challenge.
The fifth grade students (Moosebots 2.0) received the Motive Award – This award celebrates a team that embraces the culture of FIRST Lego League through team building, team spirit, and displayed enthusiasm. Their innovative project is a mural for the side of the Moose Pass School. Stay tuned for more details about this project!

The February 7th meeting of CLAPC will begin the process of updating the 1996 Cooper Landing Land Use Classification Plan. We intend to begin with review of the 1992 and 1996 Plans and to develop a procedure for outreach to the community. Your attendance at CLAPC meetings will be important. While you may not be interested in every detail of this process, please plan to attend CLAPC meetings throughout this endeavor while we do land planning for our community. If you have thoughts and ideas about land use classification for lands within and surrounding Cooper Landing, please let us know. If you cannot attend a meeting in person, you have three options: 1. Attend via Zoom, 2. Write us an email, 3. Send us a letter.
