Funding Available for Hazardous Fuels Reduction on Private Properties

Alaska’s Division of Forestry and Fire Protection(DOF) is in the final months of a fuels reduction program in support of wildfire hazard reduction (FireWise practices) on privately owned parcels.

Eligible landowners can receive up to $2,000.00 to offset the costs of fuels reduction projects on their privately-owned parcels. This funding can be used toward fuels reduction treatments such as

  • Felling live or dead trees
  • Processing downed logs for firewood
  • Chipping or burning slash
  • Thinning overstocked forest stands
  • Pruning ladder fuels (low-growing branches) from standing trees

DOF loses access to this funding April 30, 2024, and enough funding remains to serve approximately 10 more projects. If you have fuels reduction projects in mind and think they can be completed before the end of April, please reach out today!

House For Sale

My home at 34343 is for sale. 1 acre lot. It was built in 2006 as both a home upstairs and a rental downstairs. 3500 sg ft. total.  Oil and wood heat. Wrap around deck. I have used the entire place as a fishing lodge and lived in a cabin on the back of the property in the summer.

Ground floor has been used as a rental. It  has 3 bedrooms.  Private entrance. Large open kitchen, dining and living room. 2 bathrooms. One of the bedrooms can be locked off from the rental suite and used upstairs. Every room was painted fall 2023 and laminate flooring was installed in 2022. All small repairs done at same time. Happy to sell furnished. I rent this for $350. a night in the summer and $4900 a month to construction workers when needed in the off season. Cabin out back has renters who really want to stay and are happy to watch the place when vacant.

The laundry room has the furnace, water softener, hot water heater, pressure tank and washer and dryer. It is shared with upstairs.

The top floor has a huge open room with chefs kitchen, dining room and living  room. 14 ft ceiling at center and 12 ft at the sides. Wood stove with copper wall behind it. Year round sun as the home faces south down the lake. Large windows. Small lake view. Every window has mountain views. One door opens to the front wrap around deck and a sliding glass door opens to a small deck and stairs down the back of the house. Real oak flooring.

There are 3 bedrooms upstairs.

The master bedroom is huge. Designed with a bay window as a head board to watch norther light’s from bed. Walk in closet. Crown molding. New carpet and paint in fall 2022.  Sliding glass doors open to wrap around deck. Master bath has double vanity,  walk in shower with 2 heads, tile floor and rock wall above vanity.

1 bedroom has a California closet. Queen bed size and 2 windows. The second bedroom I have used as both an office and bedroom. Bay window faces south with beautiful view of Mt Languile.

Full bathroom with a rock wall above the vanity.

There is a 1 bedroom cabin on the back of the property. Year round use. Water to kitchen sink and a toilet but no shower. Toyo stove heat.

There are 2 tool sheds/ storage. I keep my Harley and storage stuff in 1 and tool in the other.

There is a second cabin/ shop. My father did some remodeling from a shop to a cabin to create additional housing. There is water to the kitchen sink only. There is a  redwood sauna inside. 1 bedroom. Toyo stove heat. Out house out back.

It has a cement pad under laminate flooring. Easy to turn into a shop again.

I love my home but have decided to move back to Canada where I was raised. I bought the family ranch which dates back to 1932. Time to help elderly family as well.

I’d give a great deal to anyone who wants the Sunrise Inn as well! My home will likely sell soon as the rental units pay a huge part of a mortgage. I’ll live in 1/2 of a duplex at the Sunrise until it sells.

I am willing to show my home anytime with a bit of notice.

Thanks to all who share this too! It is being listed with a realtor but I am willing to discount the price if a buyer comes to me 1st.

$899,000.
