A Work Session scheduled for the Cooper Landing Advisory Planning Commission at 6:00 pm on March 26, 2024 has been cancelled. The Kenai Peninsula Borough Planning Department intends to revise the Borough’s Land Use Classification system. Future discussions on land use planning will be done within the new classification system framework, once that process is completed.
Please watch for further notices regarding possible agenda items for our April 3, 2024 meeting. In the meantime, you may find the unapproved minutes and support documents from our last meeting, March 20, 2024, online at https://www.kpb.us/planning-dept/planning-commissions/cooper-landing-apc.

CLCC updates
Whew! Almost through another winter. The Board of CLCC thought a few updates would be useful!
First we are sad to report your President Melissa and hubby Zac are moving to Fairbanks at the beginning of May. Current Vice President Loraine Temple has agreed to serve as your President. We are excited to announce that Alex Browning has been appointed to fill the vacancy all this created.
Softball planning is underway and Martha Story and Yvette Galbraith have agreed to help us out since our President is extremely busy rebuilding her other home in Homer after it burned last year. Save the dates: May 29- June 8th. If you would like to help the board with the Softball Tournament please let us know by emailing officers@cooperlandingcommunityclub.com
Despite our bike path plowing volunteer Gary Mitchell being sidelined by a broken clavicle, Harrison’s Plowing graciously donated plowing services for the path while Gary recovered. Plowing the bike path is a CLCC responsibility as we were the sponsors of the project. Our agreement with the State DOT was we would plow it until they could acquire equipment that was designed to plow and sweep paved walkways. There has been some confusion on where on the bike path plowing will end. We want to be clear that both our volunteers and contractors will be plowing the bike path in its entirety in the future. The plowing will start at the Sterling Highway and end where the bike path terminates near the road to the power line. Berms created from plowing by volunteers or our contractors are the responsibility of the resident. We are continuing to pursue equipment and supporting staffing for our local DOT crew and future plowing efforts.
We are also losing our community hall hosts Julie and John Almanrode as they have moved to Senior Housing. Julie will continue managing the rentals and reservations as our Hall Coordinator. Please continue to consider her your first contact at rentals@cooperlandingcommunityclub.com
With that in mind, we are looking for summer season, onsite resident caretakers to fill their position and live on the property in their own accommodation. Please contact officers@cooperlandingcommunityclub.com if you have a lead on this!
What exactly is the Community Club? Since Cooper Landing is an unincorporated town, The Cooper
Landing Community Club (CLCC) has been the closest thing to a ‘governing body’ and the quasi-official voice with the Borough and the State of Alaska for over 80 years.
Wondering how to participate in Community Club meetings? The CLCC has 5 meetings a year in January, March, May, September and November. Anyone and everyone is allowed to attend in person at the Community Hall or via Zoom. Membership is defined in our bylaws as “any registered voter in Cooper Landing” and allows a member to cast a vote concerning certain matters. Not registered to vote here? You are still welcome to attend and bring forward any concerns you may have. The Community Club is a place for all community members to get updates from local agencies and hear about the things that are going on in the community. We look forward to seeing you all at our next meeting!
Easter Egg Hunt
This Saturday March 30 the Cooper Landing Chamber and Community Club are hosting a community Easter Egg Hunt. There will be games, refreshments and plenty of candy after the egg hunt. All are welcome to enjoy. Egg Hunt starts at 1pm at the community Hall.
We are looking for helpers to hide eggs and help out during the hunt. If you are available please call or text Melissa at (720) 883-6484

Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held at the Baptist Church annex Saturday mornings 9:00 and Wednesday nights 7:00. This is an open 12 step meeting.
