ALASKA DOT&PF STERLING HIGHWAY MP 45-60 PROJECT – STAGE 3 BLASTING OPERATIONS
APRIL 15, 2024 – AUGUST 30, 2024
BETWEEN 10:00 A.M. TO 8:00 P.M.
Quality Asphalt Paving (QAP) and Southeast Roadbuilders, in cooperation with DOT&PF, will resume production blasting for Stage 3. Blasting will take place on the east side of the corridor. The blasting operations are anticipated to occur twice a week between the hours of 10:00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M. from April 15, until August 30, 2024. Please be aware that blasting signals may be heard during this time.
It’s important for the community to be aware of the blast warning signals and the all-clear signal to ensure safety and minimize disruption. The following blast signal will be sounded on a clearly audible air horn or similar device:
- Blast Warning Signal: A series of long signals, five (5) minutes prior to blasting
- Blasting Imminent: A series of short signals, one (1) minute prior to the blast
- All Clear Signal: One (1) long signal following the inspection of the blast area.
For further details or inquiries, please contact the DOT&PF Project Office at (907) 595-2009 or QAP at (907) 595-2011.
Additionally, traffic and project updates can be monitored through Alaska 511: http://www.511.alaska.gov and the project website: http://www.sterling45-60.com.
