Creative Mondays at the Hall -Silk Painting with Artist Thalia Wilkinson

Limited space available! This is a two-step process. Step one is drawing the design on silk with a liquid resist, then painting the colors on the silk. Step two is steaming the silk for a few hours to set the dyes. Each session will inspire and invoke your inner creativity. Come with your image in mind, or just let it flow moment by moment.

Cooper Landing Community Club Seeking RV Hall Host this Summer

The Cooper Landing Community Club is seeking a Hall Host to live at the Community Club RV Hosting Site in exchange for keeping an eye on our place and performing light duties (monitoring facility, some grounds keeping and opening and shutting gate.) The Easter Bunny is Coming but Needs Some Help!

The Easter Bunny will be coming Saturday April 19th at 1 pm to the Cooper Landing Community Club Hall! This is a very popular event and we are still need of some volunteers to help with the set up of this event to make it fun and successful. Alaska’s Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Service is funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS)—the main source of federal support for libraries and museums in the U.S.

The IMLS’s mission is to “advance, support, and empower America’s museums, libraries, and related organizations through grantmaking, research, and policy development.”

In addition to the Interlibrary Loan service, this grant also supports other important programs in Alaska, such as Battle of the Books and the SLED database. This funding is not a federal mandate—it is a state-prioritized grant made possible by the IMLS.

Last Monday, 75 IMLS employees—nearly the entire staff—were placed on administrative leave. Without staff to manage and administer grants, many vital services are at risk of being discontinued.

Federal Subistence Fishing Permits Issuance April 10 and May 1 in Cooper Landing

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and U.S. Forest Service will begin issuing Federal Subsistence fishing permits on 4/10/2025 in Cooper Landing.  Several options to receive a “General” and “Household” permit will be available this year.  We will not be issuing permits over the phone.   

To receive a permit, please go to one of the following locations during the identified times and bring two documents supporting your eligibility as a Federally Qualified rural Alaska resident (examples of documents given below): 

Please be prepared to provide information to demonstrate your primary permanent residence in Cooper Landing, Hope, Moose Pass or Ninilchik.  Having a seasonal residence does not qualify you as a rural resident. You are not eligible to participate if your primary residence is in another location.  All members of your residence must meet Alaska resident eligibility requirements to participate in order to be listed as a household member. Factors demonstrating Alaska residency and the location of a person’s primary permanent home include but are not limited to the following:

Residency proof:

  • A government issued photo ID that identifies a physical address in Cooper Landing, Hope, Moose Pass or Ninilchik.  For example, a State of Alaska Drivers license with physical address.  Note: P.O. boxes do not qualify as a proof of residence.
  • Alaska Voter Registration card with physical address,
  • An Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend application which shows the physical address,
  • Alaska license to hunt, fish or engage in activity regulated by a government entity,
  • Tax Returns and Property Tax Statements,
  • An affidavit of a person or persons who knows you.

Rural Proof:

  • Recent Utility Bill 
  • Alaska Voter Registration card with physical address
  • Mortgage or rental receipt
  • State/Federal tax document
  • Other Similar Documents

If you failed to return your 2024 harvest reports by the due date of January 15, 2025 as identified on the permit per the conditions of the permit, you are likely ineligible to participate during 2025.
