Cooper Landing Garden Tour
The Cooper Landing Garden Tour is being organized this summer as a fundraiser for the Cooper Landing Community Library, in an effort to help meet the $7,000 local match requirement for the State of Alaska Public Library Assistance grant.
The tour is scheduled for the afternoon of Wednesday, July 16. The tour will begin at the library at 11:30am to consolidate transportation and will arrive at the first garden around noon. The tour group should be back at the library before 4pm, so everyone can pick up their vehicles and wrap up the day with a picnic at Brad and Ann Hanson’s home.
Important: If you would like to go on the tour, please email cooperlandinglibrary@gmail.com or call Marilyn Gravenhorst at 907-595-1710 to reserve a spot.
Donations can be mailed ahead of time to Cooper Landing Community Library, PO Box 517, Cooper Landing, AK 99572, or you can donate online at this link.

Kasilof River Closed to King Salmon Fishing and Gear Restricted
(Soldotna) – To protect returning king salmon, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) is closing sport fishing for king salmon, including catch and release in the Kasilof River downstream of the Sterling Highway Bridge effective 12:01 a.m. Thursday, July 10 through 11:59 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2025. King salmon caught while fishing for other species may not be removed from the water and must be released immediately. Additionally, from the river mouth to the outlet of Tustumena Lake, only one unbaited, single-hook, artificial lure may be used through August 15.
Anglers are reminded that Crooked Creek is closed to all sport fishing until August 1 and the portion of the Kasilof River upstream of the Sterling Highway Bridge closed to sport fishing for king salmon by regulation on July 1.
“King salmon runs across the Kenai Peninsula are significantly below desired levels,” stated Area Management Biologist Phill Stacey. “In an effort to achieve the escapement goal and broodstock collection goals for Crooked Creek king salmon, it is warranted to close king salmon fishing in the Kasilof River.”
For additional information, please contact Phill Stacey, Area Management Biologist (907) 260-2920.
