Cooper Landing Seniors Quarterly Meeting Tonight

Cooper Landing Senior Citizen Corp. Inc’s February meeting is tonight, Feb. 17, beginning at 6 pm in Helen Gwin Commons, Eagles View, Snug Harbor Senior Haven. Anyone interested is invited to join us. You don’t have to be a CLSCCI member.

We start with a potluck dinner, then a business meeting, and a program. The scheduled program is about Will Troyer, a life lived large. Will died in 2014. He was a groundbreaking bear biologist and head of the Kenai National Moose Range now the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. Also an author, Will’s 3 books will be included in his display. One of Will’s books is the grand prize for the bingo game about his life. Will and LuRue Troyer were Senior Haven residents.

To be proactive, CLSCCI invited Tim Weekley from the Kenai Peninsula Borough Office of Emergency Management, OEM, to the meeting. He will give Senior Haven residents advice for preparation in the possibility that the recent landslide from the edge of Snug Harbor Road pavement to Kenai Lake could cause the road to become impassible due to more damage or repair work being done. A representative from Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, DOT, has been invited to this meeting. DOT set orange cones along road above the landslide and is monitoring the situation. To add to concerns, the hillside, near the landslide area, is producing a glaciering situation across the hillside traffic lane and is filling the ditch.
