Salmon donations accepted for Western Alaska Typhoon Halong
Hi! I will be collecting frozen salmon for Typhoon Halong refugees in Anchorage. The Alaska Native Heritage Center (ANHC) is collecting traditional foods to distribute to families from Western Alaska that have had to move into Anchorage. It was a great Red Salmon run on the Kenai this summer so I am thinking many Cooper Landing residents have fillets to spare. I will be in Cooper 11/4-11/6/25 so please reach out to drop at our house. I will bring the frozen salmon to Anchorage the evening of 11/6 to drop at ANHC.

You can also drop at ANHC yourself. Here is the information on the food drive:
The Alaska Native Heritage Center (ANHC) is coordinating relief efforts for those displaced by Typhoon Halong.
As part of our response, ANHC is providing both cultural support and direct assistance to help our relatives feel a sense of home and belonging during this time. Our team will use donated traditional foods for community gatherings at ANHC and, as quantities allow, will distribute food to families who are hosting displaced individuals.
We are seeking donations of traditional Alaska Native foods, including whale, moose, salmon, hooligan, halibut, and other customary foods.
• All donations should be frozen and harvested within the past year.
• We also welcome bulk frozen food donations (such as vegetables, meats, and other staples) from grocery stores or bulk suppliers.
For questions about donating or receiving food, please contact: nativefoods@alaskanative.net
Please call 907-205-0068 to coordinate a drop off time.
*Frozen food item donations that are being dropped off at the Alaska Native Heritage Center need to be brought to the large white storage unit outside the Feller Building. Please park in the small northeast parking lot at the Alaska Native Heritage Center. The Feller Building is located on the northeast side; it is a detached building with garage doors on its exterior, within the northeast parking lot on the closest to the Mabel Pike Education Center.
Major thanks to Dalton Refrigeration and Vulcan Towing & Recovery for providing in kind services to make this possible for us.

We are so appreciative for everyone who has already gotten in touch about their interest to help bring a taste of home for our relatives. Our community is truly incredible.
