Sept 9 Cooper Landing Advisory Planning Commission Meeting Cancelled

The regularly scheduled Sept 9 Cooper Landing Advisory Planning Commission Meeting has been cancelled due to lack of agenda items from the Borough Planning Department.  Our next scheduled meeting will be on Wed Oct 7, 2026 at 6:00 pm.

Grizzly Ridge Fall Updates

Fall is right around the corner, so we have a few updates from Grizzly Ridge!

🥪 Our deli will close for the season starting September 5. Thank you to everyone who stopped by. We look forward to bringing the same amazing meals and more next season!

🕖 Beginning September 8, the store will be open daily from 7 AM – 7 PM. Our store will also be closed every Tuesday going forward, with our last day for the season approaching in the coming weeks. 

Don’t worry, gas will still be available 24/7 with a card at the pump.

Road Clean Up

Sexy Senior Dumpster Cleaners need your help cleaning the highway.

Wednesday September 23th.

Please meet at Sunrise at 10:00am for a safety meeting.

You don’t need to be Senior, just over 18.

We have 4 miles to clean up.

I know you all are volunteered out, but this will be the last time we ask for 2026 😊

Meridian Lake Trail Maintenance Volunteer Event

Alaska Trails will be holding a volunteer trail work event on Meridian Lake Trail, and all are welcome!

Date: September 19th, 2026

Time: 10 am to 4 pm

Location: Meridian/Grayling Lake Trailhead, 22635 State Hwy 9, Seward, AK 99664, USA

ALASKA FLYFISHERS KENAI RIVER CLEAN-UP
Location: Russian River Ferry Parking Lot (Mile 55 Sterling Highway Cooper Landing)
Event: Alaska Flyfishers Annual Kenai River Cleanup, Prize Drawing and BBQ
 
Hosted Schedule:
8:00AM Light Breakfast
8:30AM Sign in and pickup of bags and safety gear.  Make a sandwich for lunch
9:00AM – 4:00PM Cleanup
4:00PM – 4:30PM Check in collected trash, safety vests and equipment
4:30PM Participant Prize Drawing for both Adult and Youth
5:00PM – until …  BBQ – Burgers, Hotdogs, Brats, and a Campfire
Drawings include a ½ day guided fishing trip by Drifters Lodge, Flyrod set by Big Ray’s, Fly Reel by
Mt. View Sports, Simms gear by Mossy’s, Dry bags by Boondock and many more items.
There is also a special youth group drawing.
After a long summer of fun and recreation, join us to help clean up the Kenai River’s banks and the
Sterling Highway roadside from Mile 53 to 58.
Boats are welcome and encouraged!!!
Come early, stay late and do some fishing also!!!

Fantastic Fall Fling-Community Dance

Join us for the Cooper Landing Fantastic Fall Fling on Friday, September 11, 6:30 pm at the Community Hall to celebrate a successful summer and usher in the fall. Catch up with friends you haven’t seen since softball, have a couple of beers, and dance away the summer stress. This event features DJ hosted dancing, a beer garden, and a nacho bar.

Proceeds from this event will be donated to Cooper Landing School. Notice from Cooper Landing Community Club

Our fourth general Community Club Members Meeting for the year is Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 6 pm at the Hall. We are seeking Agenda items for this meeting no later than 11 am, September 9th.  Please email your agenda request to officers@cooperlandingcommunityclub.com. Also at this meeting we will be accepting and voting on filling three seats for the Board. Yvette Galbraith, Lorraine Temple and Kathy Lessard have completed their terms and are stepping down as officers. All three will be available to help the new officers in the transition. Many years of hard work from previous and current board members have set up CLCC’s operations to run smoothly and it is a great time to be on this board and contribute to our community! Alaska Health Fair in Cooper Landing Sept 26

The Cooper Landing Community Club is bringing the Alaska Health Fair to the Landing with help from the Cooper Landing School PAC and CLES on Saturday, September 26th, 2026, from 9 am to 1 pm at Cooper Landing School. This event will feature affordable Blood Draws, Peninsula Community Health Services of Alaska and Safe Kids Kenai Peninsula as health educational providers and displaying. We are also looking for health industry related and home safety vendors who are interested in participating. This health fair will be open to all those in Cooper Landing, Moose Pass, Hope, Seward, and Sterling. No display fees to be charged as this is being held as a requested event by our CL Club Members. CLCC Educational Talk Series

Our First talk will be Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 7 pm on A World of Shipping, Ships and Shipbuilding” by Cooper Landing local resident Al Nerienberg, owner and president of Ship Construction Strategies. Al started as a marine engineer and was an executive at two US shipyards before starting his own company and has worked in shipbuilding and offshore projects worldwide. His talk will cover a very broad range in relation to the sea with some local flavors including the Alaska Packet Fleet of the late 1890s and Alaska’s role in oil/gas shipping. Summer AA Meetings in Cooper Landing!

Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held at the Baptist Church annex on Saturday mornings at 9am and on Tuesday nights at 7pm. These are open 12-step meetings. Seasonal workers and visitors welcome! If you are curious or think you might have an issue with drinking or other addictions, come join us.
