Posting Guidelines

The Cooper Landing Crier endeavors to deliver information to our community members in a way that is positive and unifying. The Crier strives to prevent potential controversy, conflict, or divisiveness that could result from a posting. For this reason, we ask you to choose your words carefully when creating a posting and remember to use a neutral tone and non-offensive language. We are volunteers, and your following of the guidelines below helps us to more easily provide this service.

 What can be submitted to the Crier for posting?

Notices:

  • Meeting events and agendas
  • Safety notices

Personal Ads:

  • Birth announcements
  • Marriage announcements
  • Memorial announcements and obituaries
  • Significant life events
  • Classified ads
  • Lost and Found

Business Advertising:

Who can post? Businesses can post if any of the following apply: businesses physically located in the greater Cooper Landing area (Cooper Landing, Moose Pass, Summit Lake, Hope), AK businesses that physically travel to Cooper Landing to offer services to the community, members of the Cooper Landing Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau.

  • Local business hours and specials
  • Local organization hours, functions, updates, or information
  • Local business surveys gathering information
  • Local employment opportunities

Government:

  • Updates from government entities
  • Emergency information
  • Notices of open public comment periods for projects and legislation that affect the community
  • Information on passed legislation and updated regulations that affect the community
  • Notices of vacancies on local advisory boards and committees
  • Government employment opportunities
  • Polling locations and hours for elections
  • Government surveys gathering information

Religious:

  • Local church hours, events, and notices

What can NOT be submitted to the Crier for posting?

Personal Ads:

  • Dating ads
  • Personal Opinions
  • Emotional language or divisive commentary

Business Advertising:

  • Ads for businesses outside of the greater Cooper Landing area that do not travel to Cooper Landing to provide services.

Government:

  • Petitions
  • Political advertising including campaigns, ballot referendums, recall campaigns, requests for letters of support for local elected officials or changes to legislation, comments on local, state, or national level politics or legislation
  • Comments by individuals or businesses on local projects, meetings, or groups

Religious:

  • Religious opinions

How do I submit information to be posted on the Crier?

When does the information need to be sent?

The Crier will go out on Mondays and Thursdays. Please send postings no later than 12pm noon on Sunday or Wednesday. If you have an item you would like posted in multiple Criers, please submit it before each edition in which you would like it to appear.
