Open Seats on Cooper Landing Community Club Board

Nominations are being taken for open seats on the Cooper Landing Community Club Board. The Cooper Landing Community Club is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization established in May of 1949. It serves, promotes and encourages all activities in the interest and welfare of our Cooper Landing residents. The CLCC also serves as an umbrella for numerous organizations dedicated to improving the quality of life for all ages.

Our organization represents roughly 300 year-round residents and is the quasi-government for our town. The board consists of five volunteer officers and general meetings are held 5 times a year. Anyone 18 years of age or older who is registered to vote in the Cooper Landing precinct and attends at least one meeting a year may become a member. Non-members are welcome during meetings.

If you are interested in becoming involved and serving our community, please email officers@cooperlandingcommunityclub.com for an application. Per our Bylaws, all nominations for 2024 candidates will close at the end of the September 21st meeting. If there are more nominees than open seats, ballots of all nominees will be mailed to each member in good standing for an election to occur by November 1st, 2023. (A member in good standing is any adult registered in the Cooper Landing Voting precinct AND has attended at least one community club meeting in the last year). If there are an equal number of nominees vs. seats, a voice vote will be held at our November meeting.

The Kenai Peninsula Borough Community Assistance Program (CAP) 2023/2024 submissions are due to the Cooper Landing Community Club by September 10th. We ask that our local community organization liaisons to please submit their requested amounts via email to officers@cooperlandingcommunityclub.com. Requests need to include the amount, what the donation will cover, and the contact information for the organization making the request. The CAP funds must be used for a public purpose, and applicants must demonstrate that the project or program is publicly available to every person in the community.We must have these submissions to review and vote on at our September meeting in order to be compliant with the program. Kenai Local Food Festival

The Harvest Moon Local Food Festival is the Kenai Peninsula’s biggest one-day farmers market and local food celebration. The festival spotlights local Alaskans who grow, harvest and produce all sorts of Alaska Grown and Made in Alaska food and wellness products. As well as farm vendors, this free event features fun activities for kids and families, live music, cooking demonstrations and educational talks, food trucks, the popular Fermentation Station, wild edibles walks, and a pie baking contest.

The Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge will be closing for the season at 11 am (12 pm for the RV Park) on, Saturday, September 16th. We would like to thank the Cooper Landing Community for your support and inclusion in the community. Cooper Landing is a very special place, and the local and visiting team members are grateful to be a part of it. We wish you a lovely fall/winter and look forward to seeing you in May 2024 (we open May 20th)!
