Monday Edition 11/20/23

Cooper Landing Community Library News

The library will be closed Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, November 23-25, for the Thanksgiving holiday. If you need a book during that time, check out the Little Free Library on the porch. Internet is also available outside, via our Library Guest network.

Sunrise Happenings

The staff of the Sunrise Inn will be preparing a free Thanksgiving Dinner on the 23rd for anyone who would like to join us. All of your homemade favorites will be served. Dinner is from 1 until 4 pm. Please give us a call if you plan on joining us. 907 595 1222. It helps give us an idea of how much food to cook. If you decide to join us at the last minute and haven’t called ahead please come anyway. It is wonderful to share this special day with everyone who helps us stay open year-round.

There is a dart tournament starting on Friday the 24th thru Sunday the 26th. The darters pretty much take the bar over but they always welcome locals so come and join in on the fun.

Starting on Monday November 20th our hours will be changing. We will be opening the cafe at 9 am rather than 8:30. The cafe will close at 7:30 on Sundays, at 8 the remainder of the week. This will be flexible on Trivia and Pool tournament nights when we will stay open until 8:30 if the need is there.

Thank you for supporting the Sunrise Inn and we hope to see you on Thanksgiving day.

Mark your Calendars for the next Community Potluck-November 28th!

Our community has so much to be thankful for! Please come to the next Community Potluck and catch-up with friends (or meet new ones)!! All are welcome and encouraged to come, whether you can bring a dish to share or not!

Snow shoveling crew

Protect your investments from this heavy snow. Wood sheds, van roofs and tents have been collapsing and there’s only more to come. We have been busy removing a ton of heavy snow from tents, decks, vehicle roofs and other valuable assets. Spend some now to save a bunch of money later. $40 per hour, available most afternoons. Call Erick and Wolfgang, long time locals with references. Thanks! 907-598-1065

Trapping Season is Here!

Just a reminder that trapping season is upon us so be an informed, aware recreationalist! Traps can be placed anywhere, with the exception of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge and within 50 yards of campgrounds. That means beaches, roadsides, pullouts, the Summit Lake recreational area and trails could potentially pose a hazard for loose dogs or small humans running around. If you see a trap or have an historical encounter, please report it to the new “Map the Trap” site that is live and updated frequently. Trappers are encouraged to utilize this tool so folks can stay away from your area. Go to www.wildlife.org/safetrails!

Have a happy, safe winter out there!
