Seeking Donations for CLCC Silent Auction at Softball Tournament
The Cooper Landing Community Club is seeking donations for their silent auction held during the Cooper Landing Softball Tournament (to be held May 30 – June 8, 2024). This is one of our biggest fundraisers for the Club during the year! We will happily accept gift certificates, artwork created by local artists, merchandise from business vendors and more. Arrangements can be made for a pick up time or dropping off at the Hall. All proceeds from the Silent Auction go towards the Community Club. The lack of shoulders on the Sterling Highway MP 45-56? Why? Are the steep roadside grades of the Sterling Highway roadway of concern? Why? Do the curves allow line of site to safely negotiate the roadway? Do you want to safely travel the Sterling Hwy or other corridor by foot, bike, or pushing a wheelchair or stroller? Do you have a business that would benefit from that kind of safe access for guests? What specifically blocks this? Do you feel safe walking or biking the bridges at Cooper Creek or Schooner Bend? Any other bridges in our area need attention? Why? Are you comfortable walking or riding a bike on a highway shoulder next to vehicles? Are you concerned about roads in Cooper Landing other than the Sterling Highway? Pins The survey will ask you to drop three pins on a map to identify problem areas. If the problem you are highlighting with one pin exists for a segment of roadway, list the mileposts for the whole segment. For example, Sterling Hwy MP 45-56 lacks shoulders. When dropping pins, try to give MP (milepost) notation when you can. There is a sheet attached to this message that lists mileposts for the Sterling Highway MP 45-60. Be specific in what you feel the danger or concern is. Why do you hold your concern? If a bridge problem is the same or similar for another bridge you can name them both. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Mark your calendars for June 10-14 for Vacation Bible School for ages 3-12 at the Community Hall 9-12 a.m. with breakfast being served each morning. Gwin’s Lodge Roadhouse & store is now open 7 days a week. Hours are currently 1pm to 9pm. The bar can be open later based on business levels. After hours “bar” foods are available, so ask! Hours will be expanded soon.
Snailathon This Saturday- 9am!
We hope to see you this Saturday morning for the return of the Snailathon! Meet at 845 at CLES for a 9am start as we race to Senior Haven and back! Thank you to the Baptist Church for allowing racers to park so that we can keep our emergency vehicles accessible. You can find a waiver on our website, http://www.cooperlandinges.org or we will have some available there. There is no cost for this 4 mile event but we do have a few prizes for the winners of the fastest, safest and slowest racers!

Federal Subsistence Fishing Permits
Federal Subsistence Fishing permits are available for qualified residents of Cooper Landing, Ninilchik, Hope and Moose Pass.
Permit Meetings:
- HOPE: Thursday, May 16, 4pm – 7:30pm – Bear Creek Lodge coffee shop
- MOOSE PASS: Tuesday, May 21, 4pm – 7:30pm – Moose Pass Sportsman’s Community Hall
- COOPER LANDING: Saturday, June 8, 4pm – 6:30pm, Cooper Landing Community Hall (prior to the Cooper Landing Softball Tournament)

- Soldotna: Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Office, Mon – Friday, 9:30am – 3:30pm

Sign Up to Help at Softball Concessions!
Its that time of the year where we don’t have to cook, just show up to the Softball Tournament and enjoy a burger or a hotdog while you watch the game! However, we need folks to help with concessions and it takes our whole community to pull this off. Please see the schedule below and start planning a night or two that you can help out for a shift at the Community Hall. Support your favorite group or organization by helping them out on their night. CL Chamber members, wear your business swag and show your support for the Chamber and our Community. At the end of the tournament each group receives an even split of the concession proceeds. The sign up board will be available to write in your name and a contact number next to a shift time starting Friday morning, May 17th at Wildmans in their lounge area.

Looking forward to a beautiful summer
I do have plants available again this year. I have lots of Cherry tomatoes (. Red, chocolate, orange and yellow). I also have tumbler and Red Robin bush tomatoes. I do not have many Red Slicers, I do have a few heirloom purple dark red slicers. Also a half dozen Siberian which will produce on south facing porch.
My slicer cucumbers are all spoken for, but I do have some Asian and English left.
I’m hopeful for more Zuchinni to Germinate.
On a happier note: I have lots and lots of flower starts.
Black eyed Susan’s, Calendula, African Daisies, lots of Petunias ( regular, wave and doubles) verbena, lots of pansies, mixed colors, dahlias, cosmos, Bicopa, Gergen’s, Coleus, impatiens, silva, bells of Ireland, Borge. Then I have some Perennials:
Purple Columbine, pink and blue Delphiniums. Veronica, Dianthus .
