Hiring! Trout Unlimited Alaska- Kenai Peninsula Engagement Coordinator

TITLE: Kenai Peninsula Community Engagement Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Trout Unlimited

POSITION TYPE/HOURS: Full-time/40 hrs per week

Trout Unlimited (TU) takes care of the rivers and clean water that trout, salmon and communities around the country depend on. We are a nationwide network of advocates, outdoor enthusiasts, volunteers, anglers and staff dedicated to protecting places where trout and salmon thrive and recovering rivers and fisheries that need help. In Alaska, we work to conserve some of the most important wild salmon and native trout habitats remaining in North America.

POSITION SUMMARY

This is an exciting opportunity to help conserve salmon and trout habitat on the Kenai Peninsula through working closely with TU staff, community members, businesses, volunteers, and partners. This person will connect with anglers and community members by attending and hosting events, sharing scientific information, and supporting and expanding partnerships. The Kenai Peninsula Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for representing TU in the community and identifying fish habitat conservation projects on the Kenai Peninsula.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, and a reliable self-starter who enjoys interacting with a wide variety of people. They have experience and skills in a range of public outreach tactics, exceptional communication and “people” skills, and have a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision. They have a knowledge of and passion for salmon and trout, familiarity with the culture and sport of fishing on the Kenai Peninsula and are excited to contribute to a fish-filled future for Alaska. This is a remote position based in a Kenai Peninsula community (preferred locations: Sterling, Soldotna, Kenai, Cooper Landing, or Seward). This is a salaried, full-time position.
