Subsistence Drawing Hunt Application Period Opened for Units 7 & 15
The Chugach National Forest Seward District Ranger and the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Manager, under authority of the Federal Subsistence Board, announce the open application period for Federal Subsistence Drawing Hunts on Federal lands on the Kenai Peninsula in Units 7 and 15. Federally qualified residents from the authorized community established for each hunt are eligible to apply. The application deadline is Friday, April 18, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. Late applications will not be accepted. Drawing winners will be contacted beginning April 22, 2025.
For the 2025 season, the following permits will be available:
Unit 15 (Open to Federally qualified residents of Cooper Landing, Hope, Moose Pass, Nanwalek, Ninilchik, Port Graham, and Seldovia)
- Four Mountain Goat permits will be available from hunt areas DG356 (Indian Creek one permit), DG357 (Tustumena Glacier one permit), and DG358 (Fox River two permits). Winners will select a subunit in the order they are drawn.
- Two Caribou permits will be drawn for the Killey River Caribou Herd.
- One Sheep permit for Unit 15 will be drawn from Ninilchik and Cooper Landing applicants.

Unit 7 (Open to Federally qualified residents of Chenega, Cooper Landing, Hope, Moose Pass, Nanwalek, Ninilchik, Port Graham, Seldovia, and Tatitlek)
- Three Mountain Goat permits will be available, one from each hunt area DG338 (Crescent Lake), DG334 (Mills Creek), and DG339 (Grant Lake). Winners will select a subunit in the order they are drawn.
- One Sheep permit for Unit 7 will be drawn from Cooper Landing and Moose Pass applicants.

Summer Arts Camps in Seward
Seward Arts Council is looking for interested artists, musicians and on-the-ground people to help fill positions for the Summer Arts Camps in Seward in June and July.
June 23-27
* Performance/theatre/visual/nature-based
* 5 days
* 3ish hrs/day
* Schedule can be flexible depending on the artists vision and target audience
* Will culminate in a final exhibit/performance
July 21-25
* Music-specific camp
* 5 days
* Musicians will work in rotations with different groups of students at a time
* Will culminate in a community performance/exhibition
** Tuition waivers available to interested participants who would like to bring their kids along! **

Parents, we want to hear from YOU about KMTA summer programs in your communities! During our pilot of Pathfinders last summer, we had only a few kids participate from Cooper Landing and Hope. If summer program needs are already being met, we’re happy to hear it and will continue to work with you through school programs. If not, let us know! As we navigate a challenging funding landscape with a lot of uncertainty, we remain committed to providing meaningful connections for KMTA kids, families, and communities to this incredible place we call home.
