Cooper Landing’s nicest dry cabin is for rent this year. 6 and 12 month leases available. 750 a month for a 6 month lease and 700 a month for 12 month leases. No pets. Cabin is 14×16 on the inside and comes furnished with queen bed, two big lounge chairs, dining room table and chairs, and a few other nice features. Queen bed is in loft.

Please see the attached flyer for where, when, and how to attend one of the KPB Public Workshops or Presentations regarding the Safe Streets for All Project and the Comprehensive Safety Action Plan. Cooper Landing roadways ranked #6:20 communities included in this plan. Note that a presentation to answer community questions will be made to Cooper Landing Advisory Planning Commission (CLAPC) at their regularly scheduled meeting of April 9th, 6:00 p.m., at the Cooper Landing Community Hall. That meeting is also available on Zoom so watch for further postings for the link. Please plan to attend one of the workshops or presentations.

Janet Mitchell, 77

Cooper Landing resident Janet “Jan” Patricia Ground Mitchell, 77, passed away peacefully, November 19, 2024 after a battle of cancer.

She was born September 19, 1947 in Seward, Alaska, the daughter of late Edward and Virginia
(Pat) Ground. On August 23, 1969. She married Gary Mitchell in Klamath Falls, Oregon. They moved to Alaska in 1974, and resided in Fairbanks, Anchorage and Cooper Landing. Jan worked as a teacher, teacher assistant, bookkeeper during her time in Anchorage. She was the most loving mother and wife. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her “many talents, and her positive attitude”.

She was a part of the sexy senior dumpster cleaners, election committee, senior housing board, museum board member, and and enjoyed volunteering for numerous community events.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, berry picking, playing cards, and gathering with friends and family. She was a master at stacking wood, gardening, sewing and predicting the weather. Her heart and joy was listening and following her grandchildren stories and activities.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Mitchell; daughter and son-n-law, Kristin and John Blees of Anchorage, Alaska; daughter-n-law Nicole Mitchell of New Palestine, Indiana, grandchildren, Maya and Mason Blees of Anchorage, Alaska; Kaitlyn and Alyssa Mitchell of New Palestine, Indiana; a brother and sister-n-law, Robbie and Diney Ground of Klamath Falls, Oregon.

Janet was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Mitchell.

Celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 3 at 3pm at the Cooper Landing Community Center.
In lieu of flowers, please consider bringing a favorite dessert to share with others.
Jan will be greatly missed by family, friends and community she loved so much.
