nUnit 7 Federal Subsistence hunting permits are only available for federally qualified rural

residents of Cooper Landing, Hope and Moose Pass. Please be prepared to have your:

1.) State of Alaska hunting license,
n
2.) Alaska Driver’s License or State of Alaska ID
n
3.) Verification of your primary physical address if not listed on your driver’s license
n
n
Please note having a seasonal residence in Cooper Landing does not qualify you as a rural
n
resident. You must have lived in Alaska for the past 12 months and Cooper Landing is your
n
primary residence. You will not be eligible to receive a permit if you claim residence in another location for any purpose.

Found two backpacks with fishing gear / tackle

Did you or anyone you know lose their backpacks with fishing gear in it? My name is Elsie I live in Seward I found 2 backpacks with a substantial amount of fishing tackle/gear that was unattended for hours last Sunday July 16th 2023 late afternoon while I was fishing along the river in Cooper landing. As a avid fisherman myself I understand the attachment when develops towards their equipment so I would like to return it to the rightful owner. Well I would like to keep it myself, I strongly believe in doing the right thing by returning it to the owner. I know if it was me I would be devastated to lose my fishing gear. I did not find any identification or any name or number with the tackle so if the owner could email me specific details of the contents I can arrange to get it back to you. Only the owner would know what he has or she has in his packs or her packs. So brand names are important. It looks like it might belong to a fishing guide. I know my fishing gear and it looks like a collection from a professional guide. Together let’s bring joy and relief to the angler who lost their beloved equipment. I’m not asking for a reward but if you are a guide I might ask you to take me fishing (haha). I didn’t want to put down my phone number because I would probably get alot of calls. So please send me the description of your equipment and email it to my email at Elsie.dill@yahoo.com. let me know that the only reason I have the equipment is because it was left unattended for hours and there was no cars around and there was no boats going in and out of the water. By the time I was ready to go home I decided I better take those packs and try to return them to whoever left them so you might be very lucky that I’m the one that found it, and I must add you were pretty don’t to leave that where you did!

Vendor criteria: Harvest Moon Local Food Festival is open to vendors of food (grown, harvested, or made in Alaska) and medicinal/wellness/personal care products made from locally grown or wild-harvested ingredients; food trucks featuring local ingredients; and educational booths relevant to the purpose of the festival.

A little background: Kenai Local Food Connection has organized and hosted Harvest Moon Local Food Week since 2013. Since our first festival in 2018, we have grown tremendously, with over 3500 people attending! This year’s festival will again feature live music, free kids’ activities, a pie contest, food demonstrations, the popular Fermentation Station, and all sorts of Alaska Grown and Made in Alaska food products.

To keep our festival affordable for vendors like you, please consider donating a product, a gift basket, or a gift certificate for one of our raffles. We also hope you will consider making a meaningful contribution at the festival’s close. We’ll provide an envelope for any contribution you would like to make in addition to your pre-festival booth payment. Conversely, if you feel you overpaid, you can request a partial refund in the amount you choose.n

Refund policy: All advance booth fees/contributions help us put on a great festival. If your application is not accepted after review by Kenai Local Food Connection, your application fee will be refunded. In the event you decide not to attend the festival after applying, your application fee will be refunded, provided we receive your request by September 1. Otherwise, booth fees are non-refundable. n

Reducing Waste at the Festival: To reduce waste, we are again partnering with ReGroup to offer recycling stations throughout the festival. We ask that all vendors work toward recyclable and compostable serving containers for the event.

Kenai Local Food Connection is a volunteer-run organization located in the Central Kenai Peninsula with the mission of forging connections within our community to increase access to local foods and knowledge about healthy eating. Each year, we publish the Kenai Peninsula Local Food Directory, sponsor winter film showings and cooking classes, and facilitate activities during Harvest Moon Local Food Week. n

Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held at the Baptist Church annex Saturday mornings 9:00 and Wednesday nights 7:00. This is an open 12 step meeting. If you are curious or think you might have an issue with drinking or other addictions, come join us!
