Chainsaw Carver in Town!
nn
Hey, y’all!
nn
I’m a chainsaw carver, originally from Kansas! I’ve spent the last two summers in Cooper Landing and exploring the Kenai Peninsula. This summer, I will be visiting for a few weeks from the end of May to the middle of June and I’m looking to carve it up while I’m there!!
nn
You might remember me from carving in front of the Loon or for the carved salmon trophies I made for Salmon Fest’s Smoked Salmon Competition, this past Summer! You might have even seen my work on Mike and Lorraine’s property, where I carved 10 stumps into pieces of art that will last for years to come (which they are welcoming folks to go check out, on their property)!
nn
While I’ll primarily be carving in front of The Loon, I am seeking commissioned special orders and stumps to carve during my upcoming time in Cooper Landing!
nn
You can check out some of my recent work by searching “Mirthful Creations” on Facebook or Instagram. Please, feel free to reach out to me to see if I can carve something special for you!

Comments Invited on Proposed Changes to Federal Subsistence Hunting and Trapping Regulations for the 2024-2026 Regulatory Years
nn
The Federal Subsistence Board (Board) is accepting written comments through June 30, 2023, on proposed changes to Federal subsistence hunting and trapping regulations. These proposed changes would affect Federal subsistence seasons, harvest limits, methods and means for the taking of wildlife, and customary and traditional use determinations for the regulatory years July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2026.
nn
In addition, the Board is asking for your comments on existing wildlife closures that will be reviewed by the Subsistence Regional Advisory Councils (Councils) and the Board during this wildlife cycle. These closures are being reviewed to determine whether the original closure justifications for closure continue to apply. Closure review analyses are being addressed by the Councils and the Board in the same manner as regulatory proposal analyses.
nn
The book containing the proposals and wildlife closures is available on the Federal Subsistence Management Program’s website at https://www.doi.gov/subsistence/proposal/current. Printed copies will be available by mid-May. You may request a printed copy by contacting the Office of Subsistence Management (OSM) at (800) 478-1456 or (907) 786-3888.
nn
Comments should reference the specific proposal number or wildlife closure review number and should be emailed to subsistence@fws.gov by June 30, 2023. Those without email access may mail comments to:
