The next Community Potluck (and last summer BBQ) will be at 6PM, Tuesday Sept 24th, at KLBC. This month’s theme is “Fall Favorites!” Burgers and dogs will be grilled, so please come hungry! Bring a side or dessert to share if you can! Come out and enjoy food, fun, and friends!
Gun Range Closure for Funeral Sept 28
The Cooper Landing Gun Club’s Shooting Range will be closed during a funeral for long-time resident Larry Smith on Saturday, Sept 28 from 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Please respect the family’s wishes for this brief closure.
Obituary for Larry Lee Smith 1952-2024
Life-long Alaskan Larry Lee Smith (72) of Cooper Landing and Soldotna, Alaska died September 14, 2024, at Providence Alaska Medical Center after a long battle with congestive heart failure. A simple outdoor burial service, complete with military honors, will be held at the base of the Cooper Landing Cemetery on Bean Creek Road at 1 pm, Saturday, September 28, 2024. Following this, a remembrance gathering will take place at the Cooper Landing Community Club on Bean Creek Road from 2 – 4 pm. All who knew and loved Larry are invited to join us in celebrating his life and legacy.

Ted’s Last Trivia at Sunrise!
The final Sunrise Trivia hosted by Ted is this Tuesday, 9/24 at the Sunrise Inn at 8:30! Ted will be passing the trivia hosting torch to other volunteers this winter and will resume hosting next summer. Thank you for all of your support and participation this season!

2024 Endowment Fund Grants
Posting for publicity for CLSCCI Endowment Fund Grants 2024:
The CLSCCI (Cooper Landing Senior Citizen Corporation, Inc) Endowment Fund has met its investment goals for our fiscal year through June 2024, which means we have the ability to fund grants for projects within our community for 2024/2025.
We can fund individual projects in the amounts of $1,000.00 to $10,000.00. The Grant Application is attached in this announcement or by by contacting Paul Radzinski at radzin6@gmail.com.
The projects must benefit more than one person or organization and must have benefit to Seniors in the greater Cooper Landing/Hope/Moose Pass/Primrose communities.
We are excited to see what projects are proposed that will enhance our community and provide the greatest benefits from the applicant’s energies and the CLSCCI Endowment funding.
The schedule for submissions and awards is as follows:
2 Sept 2024 – Announcement of Grant cycle for forthcoming year and grant applications made available
23 Sept 2024– Grant applications due
25 Sept to 23 Oct 2024 – Grant clarification process with organizations
Nov 2024 – CLSCCI Board approval
31 Nov 2024 – Grant approval letters issued
The Endowment Fund has previously provided grants to Cooper Landing Emergency Services, Cooper Landing Community Club, Cooper Landing Community Club Trails Committee, Cooper Landing Nordic Ski Club, CLSCCI Snug Harbor Community Garden Committee, and CLSCCI.
The community is also reminded it can make tax deductible contributions to the CLSCCI Endowment Fund at PO Box 552 Cooper Landing, AK 99572.
